What is High Returns?
High Returns serves as the Junior Economic Club of The Emirates’ primary community outreach effort, with a central focus on promoting financial literacy education among young individuals
How does it work?
Through the High Returns program, a team of four to five JEC Emirates members conduct a series of 30-minute workshops on financial education in multiple local underserved middle schools. These workshops are engaging, interactive, and practical, all while imparting essential financial concepts to students, including saving, spending, different payment methods, economic principles, and taxation.
Why does it matter?
Research has demonstrated that early financial literacy education within the school system has a substantial influence on a student's future financial competence and success as an adult. Despite these findings, financial literacy is seldom included in the curriculum of both elementary and high schools nationwide. Furthermore, it is evident that individuals from low-income and minority backgrounds often exhibit lower financial literacy levels in adulthood. These are the challenges that the Junior Economic Club of The Emirates aims to address through its High Returns initiative.
